Why choose POM (Delrin) sheet/rod for machining parts?

What is POM?

It is a high-performance, easy-to-process Engineering Plastic. It is more economical and easier to machine than most metals due to its high strength, smoothness, and resistance to impact and fatigue.

What are the processing properties of POM ROD?

POM rods are ideal for machining using traditional methods such as turning, milling, drilling, etc. This material is easy to cut, but does require a sharp tool with a high clearance angle. It usually leaves little or no burrs.


There are basically two types of acetals, Co-Polymer grades and Homo-Polymer grades. POM rods are often the designation for ho-mo-polymer grades. The two grades are very similar, with some differences. Ho-mo-polymer grades are typically used for more "mechanical/strength" applications, and co-polymer grades work best in "chemical" applications. They are all engineering thermoplastics for precision parts that require high stiffness, low friction and excellent dimensional stability. Typical applications for injection molding include high-performance engineered components such as pinions, ski bindings, fasteners, tool handles and automotive locking systems. This material is widely used in the automotive and consumer electronics industries. From auto parts to innovative new medical devices and most industrial solutions.
